On Saturday, June 22, Maine Art Hill in Kennebunk welcomes two amazing local female artists for side-by-side shows at 5 Chase Hill Road at The Show Galleries. Claire Bigbee and Ingunn Milla Joergensen capture sweeping landscapes, quiet stills, and simple safe havens in different palettes and styles. The show is open every day from 10 to 6 until July 17.
"This is not the first time visitors will see Claire Bigbee and Ingunn Milla Joergensen shows side by side, and there is definitely a reason for that," says Abby Daggett, Maine Art Hill's Marketing Director. "These two local artists are friends and often paint together. We love the striking contrast between their styles: Claire Bigbee's bright, bold brush strokes juxtaposed against Ingunn's subtle hues. Each artist captures shared moments or scenes in a distinct, personal manner, resulting in a captivating fusion of perspectives and artistic expressions."

"My process is a response to the atmosphere, the view, and the painting. I am not so concerned about the rendering of the piece," shares artist Claire Bigbee. "When I'm painting, music keeps my unconscious and conscious connected. I find the soul of the piece I am painting."

Capturing the beauty and power of the grand scenery of Maine on canvas is Bigbee's inspiration. As a plein air painter, the infinite beauty of nature has always been her subject since she moved to Maine when she was twelve.
With artist Ingunn Milla Joergensen, we enter a world of serenity and ethereal beauty. Her palette is soft and soothing, and her expression is otherworldly. Her smooth brushwork and soft oils will transport you to tranquility.

Joergenson works in layers, adding paint and scraping off, often mixing the colors directly on the canvas. She is extremely tactile and often paints with her bare hands. Simplifying more and more, she is working towards her paintings being a mental pause for the viewer.
