When patrons enter the gallery to view the latest exhibit, they are transported to the picturesque landscapes of Maine and New England during their most enchanting time of the year. It's a gentle reminder that these breathtaking scenes were brought to life during the long, dreary, and often bleak winter months.
Renowned artist Ellen Welch Granter shares, "Winters in New England can be lengthy, gloomy, and chilly, but as soon as I step into my studio, switch on the lights, arrange my colors, and immerse myself in a painting, the winter feels like a distant memory."

This private retreat she creates enables Granter to reminisce about the sights she encountered when the sun illuminated the sky for much more than a fleeting moment. With ample time for contemplation, she can meticulously focus on the intricacies.
"Concentrating on the form of a bird or the dance of sunlight beneath a boat's hull, I can vividly recall the exact locations where I sketched or captured the photo, akin to preserving a diary of that particular moment," Granter explains.

Visitors and collectors are captivated by the diverse subjects Granter has elegantly depicted in her single exhibition. Each piece constitutes a fragment of the larger New England summer landscape.
“Although this collection of paintings may seem to center on various subjects, they are all intricately linked in my eyes,” says Granter. “The ocean and the sky, birds and beaches, rowboats and their moorings, shades of blues and grays, glimmers of gold, and commonplace backyard birds perched on chain-link fences – this is my world."
