The 30-day Plein Air Challenge rules are as follows: one painting every day for thirty days, must be painted outside, must be painted in less than an hour, and this year, for artist Margaret Gerding, it must be flowers.
8x8
$850 each
$800 each for two
$750 each for three or more
"The 30-Day Floral Challenge expresses my love of flowers and gardening," says Gerding, "It is a subject that requires me to explore a bolder color palette."
For Gerding, It’s as if the flowers say, “Hey, look at me!”.
"Each morning for thirty days, I paint one 8x8” piece, finding myself not only studying the individual day’s flower but the series as a whole," Gerding explains. "So many varieties of shapes, sizes, and feelings come into play with the forms in these small works.
