Margaret Gerding puts her heart into each piece of art she creates. They reflect the place she lives, the place she loves, the place she calls home. Each has a story Gerding connects to. It is a hope that you do as well.
A Time to Go. 40x40 Oil on Canvas $7500
"The Time to Go has that feeling when you don't want the day to end, a memory of a time in the sun, with salt still in your hair," says Gerding. "This painting captures that last look back as you walk the path home."
Coastal Cloud VII 48x48 Oil on Canvas $10,500
Like many artists, Margaret Gerding loves to travel to find inspiration. However, when all is said and done, her favorite inspiration is literally from her backyard.
"I am in awe of the slight color nuances found in nature, how colors work together to create a palette and influence the mood of a painting," explains Gerding. "Large coastal clouds are one of my favorite subject matters, and living in Kennebunkport allows me to study them daily."
Colony Beach 24x30 Oil on Canvas $3,500
Colony Beach is a secluded little spot very few know exists. Snuggled down at the base of the Colony Hotel, it is a tiny piece of paradise.
"This painting of the fog at Colony Beach one evening is an example of one of my plein-air works," says Gerding. "I balance splitting my time between plein-air painting and studio time. Painting outside allows me to be more present in the moment and respond immediately to the experience."
Gerding's show will start on August 3 and run until August 26. The galleries are open daily at 10 a.m., and everyone is welcome.
