Kathleen Robbins
Her inspiration comes from many sources, including still life and landscape.
“The process of building the painting is critical to my work. Gesture, color, line, and surface play with the space to create a distinct movement between representation and semi-abstraction.” What drives her art is the initial response to a moment in time. The surface is often calm, and time is suspended, with the ever-present tension on the verge of movement and change. How one object or shape affects the other is a continuing fascination for her. Layers are built upon or removed to create the final piece, as the painting takes on a life of its own.
Nicolas Hawthorne
"Seven years ago, while residing in the Pacific Northwest, I became inspired by the Great Pacific octopus. My work explores the dynamic balance between their playfulness and elegance, translating the creatures' fluid movements into molten glass. Through deliberate choices of color and form, I aim to achieve a harmonious interplay between intuition and control." Nick Hawthorne, a native of New England, obtained his Bachelor of Arts from Franklin Pierce University. With 17 years of experience in glassblowing, he has honed his craft to create sculptural and functional pieces. He also has dedicated many years to teaching glassblowing to the public.
Olena Babaksan
Olena Babak is a Ukrainian-born, internationally recognized Maine artist. Her inspiration comes from painting en Plein Air and working directly from life.
“It is the poetry of light and constant change that makes me excited about my next painting. It can be a sunrise or sunset, ceaselessly moving water, an ever-changing harbor, a storm, or a gentle morning fog…The fleeting moments presented by nature captivate me the most.”
Craig Mooney
Craig Mooney's paintings of dramatic moments and heightened emotionality are known for being expressive. Though a representational painter, the artist incorporates a myriad of abstract qualities throughout his paintings. In his figurative work, Mooney romanticizes his subjects and presents them in an atmospheric lens that is best described as dreamlike. His paintings appear to capture expansive moments suspended in time. While his work feels familiar, it is not specific. All paintings are the product of his imagination.
