Alex Dunwoodie has been a part of Maine Art Hill for many years. She is known for her hyperrealism. Often, she focuses on the small things others rarely notice, but this time, it was a scene that captured her interest.

"Winter is my most productive time of year; I'm happy to be in a warm workspace," shares Dunwoodie. "The shore is beautiful in winter, but I admit I spend more time looking out the windows than taking walks."

Dunwoodie often spends her winters painting summer subjects, which inspired her back when the sun was warmer and the air less refreshing.

"Normally, I've been looking forward to getting these inspirations from last summer. However, this painting of the moon was from a winter evening. It reminds me of how wonderfully quiet and still this time of year can be."

Dunwoodie grew up on the shore in Buzzard's Bay, Mass., and still spends as much time there as possible. Presently, she lives outside Providence, R.I., with her husband, two boys, four cats, and one sweet dog. Her work is in collections around the country and overseas.
