For this latest show, Craig Mooney set out on a new journey in his painting practice, one focused on deeper exploration and discovery. Each stroke and detail is meticulously crafted, pushing himself beyond his usual methods and experimenting with how paint can build and reveal stories.
“In this show, you’ll see a range of styles from classic, tightly detailed pieces to more abstract and expressive works,” shares Mooney. “I didn’t want anything to feel simple or typical. My goal was to create striking visuals that also carry a story and a cinematic quality. Each composition invites the viewer to slow down, feel the atmosphere, and connect with the layers beneath the surface.”

Daniel Corey’s paintings celebrate light, memory, and the everyday light of Maine. Rooted in personal experience and emotional resonance, his work draws inspiration from fleeting moments, family gatherings, coastal scenes, and the distinct rhythm of beach life. He often pushes color to amplify mood and uses strong composition to capture more than just the visual. With each brushstroke, Corey seeks to evoke a sense of place and feeling.
“My effort is to recreate some of the perfection of Maine on a scale you can almost walk into,” Corey says. “The people in my paintings could be anyone,” he explains. “The shapes, colors, and drastic temperature shift between light and shadow draw me in. I love the challenge of capturing the colors and gestures of people.” Light remains a constant focus in his work. “I am always trying to capture coastal light,” he adds. “It’s about the air, the space between the viewer and the landscape.”
Together, Corey and Mooney offer a shared vision of Maine’s coast that celebrates light, place, and the layered moments in between. While their approaches differ, both artists share a common goal in their pursuit of storytelling through paint. Their work invites viewers not only to see but also to feel in a way that is personal and lasting.
