Introducing Our New Summer Spotlight Series at Maine Art Hill

Spotlight Gallery | 5 Chase Hill Road, Kennebunk, Maine

This summer, Maine Art Hill is introducing an exciting new way to experience art in the Kennebunks. The Summer Spotlight Series introduces a fresh format that gives collectors and visitors a deeper, more focused look at the work of individual artists.

Rather than traditional exhibitions featuring multiple artists over several weeks, the Summer Spotlight Series places one artist in the spotlight each week across a ten-week season. For seven days, the Spotlight Gallery will present ten carefully selected paintings by the featured artist. The concept is simple: ten artists, ten paintings, ten weeks. This intentionally limited presentation invites collectors to slow down, spend time with the work, and gain a deeper understanding of the artist’s vision, process, and inspiration.

Every week brings a completely new perspective and a new body of work to discover. Because each artist presents only ten paintings, the exhibition feels intimate and curated, more like stepping inside an artist’s studio than attending a traditional gallery show.

Each week’s exhibition debuts on Saturday, when the featured artist will be present in the gallery for a full day of conversation, insight, and connection with visitors. Throughout the day, collectors have the opportunity to meet the artist, hear about their work, and learn more about their creative process.

Saturday Spotlight Schedule

10:00 am – Gallery opens and the week’s Spotlight begins

1:00 – 2:00 pm – Live artist Interview with John Spain, Owner of Maine Art Hill

3:00 – 4:00 pm – Artist talk and discussion about their work and creative process (varies by artist)

5:00 pm – Gallery closes

While the artist will be present on Saturdays, the exhibition will remain on view through the following Friday, giving visitors the entire week to experience the collection. The Spotlight Gallery will be open daily from 10 am to 5 pm, allowing ample time to view the work throughout the week.

To build anticipation for each new Spotlight exhibition, a preview of the upcoming artist and their paintings will be shared every Friday evening via email, offering collectors a first look before the show opens for sales the next morning. There will be no advance sales.

The Summer Spotlight Series reflects Maine Art Hill’s ongoing commitment to creating meaningful connections between artists and collectors. By highlighting one artist at a time and presenting a concise, thoughtful collection of work, the series invites visitors to truly engage with the art and the artist behind it.

Each week is new. Each collection is limited. And each Saturday offers the opportunity to meet the artist behind the work.

Join us this summer at the Spotlight Gallery, 5 Chase Hill Road in Kennebunk, as we celebrate the Summer Spotlight Series, a rotating weekly exhibition featuring ten weeks, ten artists, and ten paintings each, giving every artist their moment in the spotlight.
