A Heartfelt Thank You from John & Trisha

When we first began talking about opening a gallery in Ogunquit, it wasn't because we were looking to leave Kennebunk or start over. It was because we fell in love with the idea of becoming part of another community that has celebrated art for generations. Ogunquit has always held a special place in Maine's artistic history. To be able to contribute to that story, even in a small way, felt like an incredible opportunity.

Still, opening a new gallery is never without uncertainty.

You spend months imagining what it might become. You wonder if people will walk through the doors. You hope they'll stay awhile. Most of all, you hope they'll connect, not just with the artwork, but with the artists behind it.

Over the past few weeks, you've done far more than that. You've welcomed us with kindness, encouragement, and enthusiasm that has genuinely humbled us. Visitors have lingered in the galleries, shared stories about their favorite places in Maine, introduced us to friends, returned with family members, and reminded us that art isn't simply something we hang on a wall. It's something that starts conversations, stirs memories, and creates lasting connections.

Along the way, something remarkable has happened. In our first month, more than 50 works of art, representing over 20 different Maine Art Hill artists, have found new homes. Every one of those pieces now begins a new chapter, and every one represents someone who chose to bring a little more beauty into their life. Of course, we're proud of that. But we're even more grateful for what those numbers represent. It’s about the trust you've placed in us, in our artists, and in this new gallery.

It’s never been about us. 

It’s about the extraordinary artists who pour themselves into every painting and sculpture. Thank you for trusting us to share your work and your stories with the world.

It's about our incredible gallery team, whose warmth, knowledge, and genuine love of art make every visitor feel welcome from the moment they walk through the door. You have created the kind of experience we always hoped this gallery would offer.

And it's about this community.

Whether you purchased a painting, found the perfect sculpture, stopped in while strolling Main Street, or simply spent time exploring the galleries and sharing your thoughts, you've become part of this story. Thank you.

For more than three decades, Maine Art Hill has been part of the Kennebunk community. Over the past month, we've realized something special. While the address may be different, the feeling is wonderfully familiar. The conversations, the curiosity, the excitement of discovering a new artist, and the warmth of the people who walk through our doors remind us why we do what we do.

Looking around the gallery today, hearing the conversations, seeing familiar faces return, and watching new friendships form, we know we made the right decision. The best part is that this is only the beginning.

New artwork continues to arrive almost daily. New artists continue to share their vision with us. And we look forward to welcoming each of you back, whether it's your second visit or your twentieth. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for embracing Maine Art Hill Ogunquit so warmly.
